Should you look or should you wait?

There are a few reasons why couples may want to have a first look before their big day gets on its way. There is also a very compelling case for waiting to see each other until they walk down the aisle.

Some couples choose to have a first look because they want to spend time together before the wedding begins. Even though this is one of most important days of their lives, often times couples end up having a very limited amount of intimate one-on-one time on their wedding day. First looks are private romantic moments and wonderful opportunities for great memories and pictures.

You may be thinking of having a first look because you want to make sure everyone is looking his or her best without extra touchups, which can be time consuming. You may also want to get down to the fun stuff immediately after you utter the words “I do.” Then there is the ever present conundrum of time…there never seems to be enough of it! You may want to save all of your venue time to dance and celebrate your joyous occasion.

On the other hand, some couples have envisioned walking down the aisle and locking eyes for the first time all their lives. You know what I’m talking about. Almost every wedding in a movie has it and it’s always sweet as can be. You may want to wait to get your pictures done after your ceremony if having this moment is essential to having the wedding of your dreams. That may mean you spend the cocktail hour taking pictures… What’s important is that you have the day you dreamed of, make it magical!

You may also be thinking of skipping the first look if your ceremony and reception time allow you some downtime in between.  Like in the case of an early church ceremony followed by an evening reception.   You can take pictures in between and head over to the reception after. If you do opt for a gap in between your ceremony and reception, try to keep the day to eight hours from the beginning of the ceremony to the end of dinner. Some of your guests will start getting tired if the day gets too long.

Ultimately, there is no right or wrong answer! Couples must choose what works best for them. Some of us see each other before we walk down the aisle, and some of us don’t. Either way, you will be stunning. Either way, you will take each other’s breath away. Either way, it will be your day!!

Brittanie & Will get married

A tale as old as time….

On December 31st, 2016 Brittanie and Will said I do at The Vintage Rose in Orange, Ca.  Their wedding planning process began by choosing a theme, which was A Tale As Old As Time. We don’t often host New Year’s Eve weddings, but their love story warranted a night as unique as their love.

Our rustic tables were adorned with black-and-white striped satin runners with white hydrangeas in mismatched vintage vases to give the tabletop a timeless feel. We used gold chargers with gold-brushed cutlery. Table numbers were framed in classic gold picture frames adding to the chic décor.

The ivy-wall was primped with white hydrangeas and candles. The couple chose to use our chiavary chairs, which were slightly covered with delicate white satin caps for the ceremony.

Their Love Story

Brittanie and Will met at the “teen scene” on a cruise in 2004.  They were both on a trip with their respective families, and managed to make a lasting impression on each other. That first impression was enough to prompt them to become MySpace friends. Eventually their MySpace connection became a Facebook friendship. Ten years after first meeting on a cruise, they decided to meet up for a beer and catch up. Brittanie and Will said this was most definitely not a date! But, as fate would have it, they sipped on their beers and chit the chat so long that the brewery closed! By the end of the day, they had a sneaking suspicion this was, at least, sort-of a date. At that point, they both proclaimed themselves happily single and swore off any kind of serious relationship. In fact, Will was scheduled to deploy to Africa for a year, and would be leaving for training four months after their first non-date.
